❤️❤️❤️
I’ve kept the standard intro below because of its fun facts but basically, the ‘tism is all through my family/ extended family and so I’ve learnt so much about it and all of the different ways in which it can present and the challenges that it comes with.
Two out of Three of my children are diagnosed. My youngest child receives early intervention but my eldest has struggled his whole life because we weren’t able to get a diagnosis until he was much older. When he was younger, Autism was still misunderstood and hard to get recognition / compassion for. If he had of had access to therapies and early intervention programs then his life would have been a lot easier and his mental health struggles would not have been as severe.
Autism is widely misunderstood and very hard to get a diagnosis for due to lack of resources, funding and understanding which makes getting help and early intervention harder. We were lucky with our youngest in the aspect that he was diagnosed at 1 year and 11 months old and so we have been accessing therapy and all sorts of early interventions from a very young age which has helped immensely.
As a society, we need to work harder to be more inclusive and compassionate to those who don’t ’fit In the box’. ❤️❤️❤️
I’ve stepped up to Walk for Autism. Please show your support as I walk my own brilliant way for Autistic Australians and their families!
Did you know? Because the world is not autism-friendly, 70% of Autistic people in Australia experience mental health issues.
That's why I'm walking 7k steps a day in May to fundraise for Aspect (Autism Spectrum Australia). Can you please support me?
Your donation will help deliver services that support Autistic people to live their best life.
Funds raised can help Autistic people and their families access earlier diagnosis, provide autism-specific schooling for children on the autism spectrum, support research and help create inclusive, autism-friendly environments.
Please support my Walk for Autism and donate now. Thank you so much!
