I'm walking 7k steps a day this May to support Autistic Australians
Our story:
Our eldest was diagnosed when he was 5 years of age, it was a shock but was a relief at the same time, knowing that we could with the support of Allied Health help our child and not feel helpless. Then our second child was born and as he got older we knew something wasnt quite right but we just didn't know whether he had learnt his behaviours from his sibling or whether there was more to it. Fast forward and we are now going through a diagnosis.
Every day is different, and you may say that is the same for any neurotypical family but for us it's a different kind of different. To do every day simple tasks can be a challenge, like getting ready to go somewhere or telling your child to stop playing right now or going shopping. The aftermath of meltdowns is tiring for all and the tears are real. Despite all these challenges we are riding this roller-coaster together ❤️ and we wouldn't have it any other way.
We couldn't do it if we didn't have the support of our therapists but also making those that are around us aware of what it is truly like for a neurodivergent family.
So please support me in helping other families and children and making people aware.
$36 can help create accessible, inclusive environments that support Autistic people to be their authentic selves, improving mental wellbeing.
Thank you for your support it is greatly appreciated.
